Rules for small games of chance change this Week… Pennsylvania clubs must now resume allocating 60 percent of their small games of chance revenue to public interest purposes starting June 10th. The law had been temporarily suspended to help clubs meet operating expenses during COVOD-related closures.

A Monroe County man admitted to engaging in a money laundering scheme to obtain COVID-19 relief money. 64 year old Julian Levons of Henryville, pleaded guilty entered the plea after his trial began in federal court in Scranton. Anyone who underestimates how hot their pet can get might find themselves on the wrong side of the law. PA law states that it is unlawful to have a pet tethered outdoors unless it is provided with a sanitary shelter. A first offence could mean a $2,000 fine and/or one-year in jail.

Nearly 100 jobs are being cut in Pocono Township. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, Neovia Logistics Services is making what are being called “permanent layoffs” at their Route 715 location in Monroe County, effective July 29th.

Some environmentalists are raising concerns after learning that Monroe County’s Bear Mountain in Pocono Township will be cleared of nearly 500 acres of trees, which will be replaced by solar panels. Pocono Township approved the 500-acre solar field, leased for at least 25 years on land owned by Pocono Manor.
