The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association has officially sanctioned girls’ flag football as a high school sport. To gain official status, girls’ flag football needed at least 100 participating teams statewide, which was met this April with 65 teams from eastern Pennsylvania and 36 from the west. The PIAA plans to develop a rules book and host a championship starting in the 2025-26 school year.
