Catalytic Converter Thieves Hit Emmaus Area Hard

Catalytic converter thieves in Emmaus hit three times over a two week period according to police. The parts were each valued between $1,000 and $1,500, but the cost to replace them and repair the damage can be more than that. The thefts are said to be motivated by the contents of the converters, such as platinum, which can make them valuable on the black market. Police say they can be ripped off quietly and quickly from underneath a car. Drivers are being urged to park in a well-lit area whenever possible.
