As numbers run out, a new area code is coming soon to eastern Pennsylvania. Beginning this fall, new phone numbers in the Lehigh Valley, Berks County, the Poconos and southeastern Pennsylvania will start with the area code 835 because the supply of phone numbers with 610 or 484 is running out. The change will not affect current customers. The new numbers are expected to start showing up around the beginning of September.
