Lights Out in Harrisburg

The City of Harrisburg is shutting off some of its lights. One reason is to try to reduce light pollution. The other is to help migrating birds that travel through the state capitol in large numbers each spring. Studies say as many as 1 billion birds die each year nationwide when they hit buildings and windows, after being attracted and confused by bright artificial lights at night.Lights Out Harrisburg runs through May 31st.
