The race locally for the seat in the 8th congressional district will be watched closely across the nation. Longtime incumbent congressman Matt Cartwright will face Republican Jim Bognet (BOWG-net), in what is shaping up to be a rematch of the 2020 race in which Cartwright defeated Bognet (BOWG-net). The 8th Congressional District includes all of Lackawanna, Wayne, and Pike counties and parts of Monroe and Luzerne counties.
