NJ Transit’s board of directors on Wednesday, agreed to signed off on a $32 million contract to move forward with construction on the Lackawanna Cutoff project, which will expand train service into Sussex County. The plan includes repairs and restoration for part of the decommissioned Lackawanna Rail and for the Roseville tunnel, along with 7 miles of new track. It would mean Amtrak would eventually run into Pennsylvania through the Poconos and end in Scranton.
