Now Utility Bills Are Rising Too!

Chances are, your electric bill will go up beginning today. The average customer at PPL is going to be looking at a $34 increase in their monthly bill, effective June 1st because as of today, the costs for electric generation will increase anywhere from 8.1% to 44.6%.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is supplying free sunscreen at state park beaches and swimming pools. At Tobyhanna state park, dispensers are filled with 30+ SPF BrightGuard sunscreen, which experts say will greatly reduce the potential for skin cancer.

Horvath Murder Trial Continues

The murder trial of Michael Horvath resumed Tuesday in Monroe County Court. Horvath is accused of killing Holly Grim… a co-worker… back in 2013. Prosecutors say Horvath kidnapped, killed, and then buried Grim at his property in Ross Township after he stalked Grim for years. Horvath claims he’s innocent. The trial resumes today.

State Police Release Holiday Report

State Police from Troop N.. which covers Luzerne, Columbia, Carbon, and Monroe counties… arrested 63 people for driving under the influence over the extended Memorial Day weekend. Of the 43 crashes they invetigated over the weekend, troopers say five involved alcohol. Police issued 3,277 traffic violations over Memorial Day weekend, including 963 speeding tickets.
