It was 50 years ago today when Hurricane Agnes ravaged much of the northeast. While rain was predicted by the National Weather Service that week, no one was prepared for the devastating flooding in which Pennsylvania sustained $2 billion in damage, and 50 state residents lost their lives in the floods.

In Harrisburg, the push is now on by some advocates, for a bill that would ban some dog, cat, and rabbit sales at pet stores in Pennsylvania. Victoria’s Law is named for Victoria, a German Shepherd rescued from a Pennsylvania puppy mill after 10 years of breeding.

Two bills that would limit sexual content and the discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation in Pennsylvania schools have passed the Senate Education Committee. The bills now go to the full Senate for consideration.

The 28th annual Delaware River Sojourn is now underway, and on Tuesday, more than 100 people paddled through the Delaware Water Gap… part of a seven to eight-day river trip that began in the Pocono Mountains and travels to paddling and camping locations downriver. The sojourn will wrap up in Bordentown, New Jersey.
