Alabama Shooting Suspect Taken Into Custody In Stroudsburg

In Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania State Police arrested a homicide suspect from Alabama without incident. Malcolm Jacob Derr, was wanted for a shooting-related homicide in Huntsville, Alabama. Derr was apprehended at 7th Street and Sarah Street. He now awaits extradition at Monroe County Correctional Facility.

Pennsylvania has been ranked as one of the least welcoming states in the U.S., according to a recent report by Preply. The study surveyed over 1,000 people across the country on their attitudes towards greetings and welcoming gestures. Pennsylvania landed at 47th place overall. Vermont, Maine, and Hawaii were recognized as the most welcoming.

Beginning today, Lincoln Avenue in East Stroudsburg will experience closures. The road will be fully closed for one week between Business Route 209/Brown Street and Prospect Street. After that, northbound Lincoln Avenue will be closed until spring 2026 due to ongoing construction. Expect detours and plan for delays.
