Governor Signs Bill Into Law That Raises Cell Phone Charges

A new law in Pennsylvania will soon increase cell phone bills statewide. Signed by Governor Josh Shapiro on Monday, it raises the 9-1-1 surcharge fee from $1.65 to $1.97. The fee, which helps fund local emergency services, has not been adjusted since 2015. The increase aims to address rising costs for equipment and technology.

A Monroe County man faces drug trafficking and firearm charges after authorities found over 500 grams of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and multiple firearms, including one with an obliterated serial number, at his Saylorsburg home. The discovery also included 24 improvised explosive devices. Robert Stull is now waiting further legal proceedings.
