Monroe/Pike Top Bear Harvest Stats

Monroe and Pike counties ranked at the top in Pennsylvania for black bear harvests in 2024. Monroe County led with 93 bears, including the state’s heaviest at 774 pounds. Pike County followed with 85 bears. Overall, hunters harvested 2,642 bears across 56 counties.

A judge has ruled that the death penalty can still be pursued against Bryan Kohberger, despite his recent autism diagnosis. Kohberger’s defense argued that autism reduces his culpability and would make executing him unconstitutional, but prosecutors maintain that Kohberger’s condition doesn’t meet the criteria to prevent the death penalty. His trial is set for August.

The building houses the West End Fire Company, Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS, and Chestnuthill Township Emergency Operations. Designed by emergency responders, the state-of-the-art facility aims to improve response times and provide better service as the community grows.
