A new wave of EBT SNAP fraud has hit Northeast Pennsylvania, draining benefits for many families just after February’s payments. Despite the Department of Human Services implementing security measures following January’s fraud, victims report their accounts being emptied. DHS is working on a “lock/unlock” feature for SNAP cards and nonprofits are partnering with lawmakers to help affected families, including distributing gift cards for food.
